20 year old fast bowler of Mumbai Indians issy wong Created history in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, bagged the first hat-trick of the tournament against UP Warriors in an eliminator encounter. Issy stepped up when his franchise needed him the most, taking a total of 4 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs as Mumbai beat UP by 72 runs in the virtual semi-final on Friday. In the process, Mumbai entered the final of the tournament, setting up a date with Delhi Capitals.
Wong, who is from England, took the big wickets of alyssa healy, Kiran Navagire, Simran Shaikh And Sophie Ecclestone — with the last three coming in a row — to complete his treble. In the 13th over, got the wicket of Navagire as the UP batsman tried to hit the big one but found the net in the safe hands of Sciver-Brunt. Nat SciverBrunt’s half-century helped Mumbai Indians post 182/4 against UP Warriors in the Eliminator.
After this, right-handed batsman Nat Sciver-Brunt came out to bat. The duo of Brunt and Mathews played cautiously, hitting boundaries at regular intervals.
Mathews’ enterprising knock was cut short after a fine delivery by 16-year-old Parshvi Chopra to send the Mumbai batsman back. He scored 26 runs.
captain Harmanpreet Kaur When Mathew’s wicket fell, he came in the middle. Brunt then opened when he hit Parshvi for back-to-back sixes and fours in the 12th over of the game, scoring 16 runs.
