actor Kangana Ranaut reacted to the news about his film Thalaivi. She took to her Instagram account and quashed the rumors of film distributors asking the makers of the biopic to return 6 crores. He shared one such news article and wrote, “This is all a fake propaganda by film mafia, I have sold Emergency to @zeestudiosofficial and Thalaivi has recovered all the cost even before its release. It’s been two years since its release.” He said, “Endless fake news is being circulated about me, please ignore un jinki jaali padi hai.”
Thalaivi is directed by Vijay. The bilingual film is a biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The film also starred Arvind Swamy as ADMK founder and former CM of the state MG Ramachandran. It was one of the big budget films of 2021.
Recently, a report in ETimes claimed that film distributor Zee Studios has paid such a huge amount 6 crore advance was given to the makers, which have not been returned to them yet. It further said that for the last two years, the distributors have been reaching out to the manufacturers through emails and phone calls, however, no response has been received. Reportedly, the matter will take a legal turn.
While Kangana was praised for her portrayal of Jayalalithaa, for which she gained weight, the film did not perform as expected at the box office. According to Bollywood Hungama, it grossed approx. 1.46 crore at the domestic ticket window. However, some other reports claimed that it crossed 4 crores worldwide.
Meanwhile, Kangana will turn a year older on Thursday. He is currently in Udaipur ahead of his special day. She shared a few videos from the city and in one of them she wrote, “Ignore the Changu Mangu gang, just focus on my beauty.”
The actor will be next seen in his upcoming political drama, Emergency. In the film, she will be seen as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
